SFRTA currently contracts with a law firm to serve as the General Counsel to the Authority. The General Counsel
provides legal services to the Governing Board and Executive Director. Currently, the Authority pays its General
Counsel a monthly retainer and an hourly rate established by contract for legal services that for any matter exceeds 10 hours.
The Governing Board voted at its last meeting on August 28, 2009, to consider whether to hire a salaried full-time,
in-house attorney to serve as General Counsel. The Board has created a committee to consider the advantages and
disadvantages of hiring in-house counsel.
Members of the public are invited to provide their comments on this proposed change.
